The UN calls it urban mining


Hundreds of shipping containers packed with electronic waste — old PCs, or chest freezers, or washing machines—arrive in Ghana’s capital city Accra every month. 


Within weeks, most of that is back at the port, now bound for Nigeria, the Middle East and China, sold as commercial scrap.
